据我的了解，最早这个软件叫Seagate Backupexex；后来独立出来后，改名为Veritas Backupexec，Windows内的NTBackup，其实就是超级简化版；几年前，Veritas被Symantec收购，因此这个产品的名字更改为Symantec BackupExec。
我使用过的版本有：7.3；8.6；9.1；10.1；11D；12.5；13(2010)、2010R2/2010R2SP1/2010R3。

2011年5月1日，更新2010R2SP1(Backup Exec 2010 13.0.4164.5a)和2010R3(Backup Exec 2010 13.0.5204.4a)

Question: What version can I upgrade from?
Answer: Backup Exec for Windows Servers version 11.0.7170 or later can be upgraded to Backup Exec 2010 R3. See the “About upgrading from previous versions of Backup Exec” section of the Admin Guide (BeAdmin_en.pdf) for more upgrade details and common questions.

Q: What are the ‘new’ features in this release?
A: An excerpt from the readme should have been visible as an announcement when you first logged in to Symbeta. The full readme_en.html is available for separate download below and is in the install directory of the DVD iso. To return to the ‘What’s New’ announcement at any time, just click on the “What’s New” link on the left menu bar, under “Resources”.

Q: Can I put this in production?
A: Absolutely. For any technical problems you encounter you can simply use the typical methods of calling support (or using http://mysupport.symantec.com ) with your existing maintenance contract. If you run into any problem with opening a case on Backup Exec 2010 R3 please request to speak to the Duty Manager and ask them to contact James McKey, the UAT Program Manager, for any questions/clarification needed (or contact James directly if you wish).

Q: Do I need new license keys if I already have Backup Exec 2010 keys?
A.: No. The license keys that work with Backup Exec 2010 (and 2010 R2) will also work with Backup Exec 2010 R3.
