　　In a two-part special as part of the BBC's long-running arts strand Imagine, Alan Yentob explores the world of stand-up comedy. 
　　Speaking in depth to a range of stand-up's most successful names, from Jack Dee to Simon Amstell, Jim Davidson and some top American stars, he explores their backgrounds and influences, and their passion for making people laugh. 
　　Yentob also jonis Eddie Izzard backstage as he prepares to perform the first solo stand-up show at the Hollywood Bowl, and explores how stand-up comedy evolves, and its transferral to other mediums.

     BBC拍摄的一部讲述单口喜剧表演的纪录片。所谓单口喜剧，有点类似于单口相声，国内比较接近的可能是周立波的所谓“清口”，还有一些小剧场的单口表演也和UK的单口喜剧相类似。重点是段子不长，包袱的数量和频率比较多。不过说实话，我个人没有看过UK或者US的真人单口喜剧表演，我只在著名的电子游戏GTA4里面看过几场单口喜剧表演。
　　这部纪录片采访了众多不同的单口喜剧艺术家，介绍了不同的表演风格，以及他们各自对于这一表演艺术的认识。他们有很多观念是完全相反的。
　　这是一部纪录片，没有什么戏剧冲突，但非常好地引导观众从不同角度去理解单口喜剧以及这些艺术家，并逐步地、更深层次地去理解其中的喜剧表演为何发笑，以及理解我们的生活。
