Founded in 1981 when China had just started its reform and opening up policy, China Daily is the first, and so far the only, national English-language newspaper in China. Sticking to the principle of helping the world know China

《中国日报》是中华人民共和国成立以来创办的第一份也是目前唯一的一份全国性英文日报。自1981年6月1日在北京正式创刊以来，它以大量权威性的报道、快捷的信息、高质量的图片和生动活泼的版面，向广大国内外读者及时的介绍了我国改革开放的新形势，介绍了我国的政治、经济、文化、科技、旅游、风土人情和社会等各方面的重大发展。
《中国日报》是目前我国被境外媒体舆论转载最高媒体，其消息经常被国际各大通讯社、报刊、电台、电视台转发，在全球信息交流中代表中国的声音，被公认为中国最具权威的英文刊物。
