新签约在4AD旗下的Minotaur Shock事实上是David Edwards的个人乐队，他在漫长的大学时光里就开始自娱自乐的作音乐，结果为此荒废了学业，但却遇到一个志同道合的同学教给他一些电脑制作音乐的入门技术。
后来回到故乡Bristol，在Melodic唱片公司以Minotaur Shock的名义发行了第一张EP《Bagatelle》。他的音乐基本上是基于电脑技术实验电子，看似自由松散的结构、漫不经心的细节点缀，洋溢着自然温暖的气息，同时又让你惊异于它近乎怪异的创造性。在发行了专辑《Chiff-Chaffs And Willow Warblers》后，受到了乐评届广泛的好评：

1 Muesli
“This is the closest thing to a sailor’s hornpipe you’ll find here. It was also an attempt to not use drums, which I nearly managed.”
2 (She’s In) Drydock Now
“The tale of the final voyage of a successful but outdated ocean liner. The party begins on one side of the Atlantic, but as the ‘Last Harbour’ looms nearer, so she begins to reflect on former glories.”
3 Vigo Bay
“The mutant-disco sound of eager rogue treasure hunters as they ready their equipment. They manage to get underwater but our story ends before they find what they are looking for. I tried to play guitar like David Gedge on this one, and it’s harder than it looks.”
4 Six Foolish Fishermen
“A reference to the old tale about the six brothers who forgot to count themselves. A silly but conscious attempt at making an electronic song without much fiddling which is all about the chord change.”
5 Hilly
“Imagine you’re on a lonely boat sailing close by the Cornish coast at night. On the shore, in a field on the side of a hill you can spot a group of debauched individuals dancing naked round a fire. This is what I imagine they’d be dancing to.”
6 Twosley
“An ingenius pun based around the fact that Twosley rhymes with Muesli and features similar clarinet styles. Although I insist on pronouncing it T-wos-ley. Like Bosley, the useless middleman in Charlie’s Angels. A dark tune which was a bit of a chance experiment in chord progression and rhythm and a bugger to arrange. Not really about anything, mind.”
7 Someone Once Told Me It Existed, But They Never Found It
“Now this one is a musical representation of a short film I imagined about a guy that dreams of wonderful treasure, then goes out for a walk and stumbles upon a treasure map, which he realises will guide him to his wonderful treasure (cue dream sequence). Then it cuts to clips of him making the journey on as a stowaway on an old ship, enduring hardships that are softened by his dreams of treasure. Then suddenly he’s on the island and he spots the treasure chest. Rapture. After his initial excitement he notices a precariously balanced seabird’s nest atop the treasure chest. Being a nice guy, he can’t disturb the nest so he just turns around and starts the journey home. It’s all there. Listen again.”
8 Luck Shield
“This is my favourite song on the album because it doesn’t really sound like something I’d do. Its all to do with luck, everything’s to do with luck. Sometimes we all have days when it feels like we must have forgotten to leave our luck shields at home. This is the theme to one of those days.”
9 Mistaken Tourist
“This carries on the same theme. Its about being in the wrong place at the wrong time and not even knowing it. I wanted it to sound like Van Halen meets Cluster but my weakness for daft melody and whimsical instrumentation foiled me. Again.”
10 The Broads
“I went to Mauritius and I went to Norfolk. I recorded stuff in both of those places and put them together on this track. Its about watching wildlife and enjoying simple things.”
11 Four Magpies
“This is vaguely about my firstborn. It is a big packet of Mini Cheddars but it knows it so that makes it ok. It also contains cheeky references to the 4AD records that soundtracked my youth. Its got it’s heart on its sleeve, I like it. ”
