伦敦区的卧室音乐人James Chapman化名为Maps.06年10月发行过一张6首歌的EP”Start Something”,07年终于发行了首张专辑”We Can Create”.专辑Demo是James在家做完的,他独立操刀所有的创作与录音,并请来Valgeir Sigurosson和Ken Thomas的制作人担任母带的处理任务.新专辑以Lo-Fi的电子迷幻噪音为主,流畅好听.
After delivering consistently excellent singles over the past twelve months or so, bedroom producer James Chapman has finally unleashed his debut album, and it’s a bit of a corker too. Channelling the euphoric pop spirit of these early emissions, the album is a persistently engaging body of work, serving up plenty of emotional clout alongside the synthscapes and electronic beats. Improbably, Chapman doesn’t use a computer when producing these impressive concoctions, instead he favours a cut & paste approach on his old 16-track recorder. Lucky for him, he’s aided by Bjork and Bonnie ‘Prince’Billy production cohort Valgeir Sigurdsson, who alongside Kenny Thomas (whose own credits include Sigur Ros and Hope Of The States) helps polish Chapman’s production work. Singles ‘Lost My Soul’ and ‘Don’t Fear’ still sound magnificent in all their digital post-rock glory, bringing to mind a kind of middle ground between Junior Boys, Ulrich Schnauss and My Bloody Valentine.
