由于丛书中数学类封面基本一致，就不再截图了。英文文字版，清晰度是没说的。语言也比较精练，做为读物，也还是不错。说是英文，但大多词并不是太难，多读几次，加上翻译软件，也可以无意间学到不少东西。

本书是 Britannica Guide to 系列中的Math Explained（数学讲解）中的第一本，代数与几何。

概述：

Algebra is the branch of mathematics in which arithmetical operations and formal manipulations areapplied to abstract symbols, known as variables, ratherthan to speciﬁ c numbers. Algebra is fundamental not onlyto all further mathematics and statistics but to the naturalsciences, computer science, economics, and business.Along with writing, it is a cornerstone of modern scientiﬁ cand technological civilization. Earlier civilizations—Babylonian, Greek, Indian, Chinese, and Islamic—allcontributed in important ways to the development ofalgebra. It was left for Renaissance Europe, though, todevelop an efﬁ cient system for representing all realnumbers and a symbolism for representing unknowns,relations between them, and operations.
