《火星生活》（Life On Mars）和《灰飞烟灭》（Ashes To Ashes）的缔造者们再度联手合作，BBC推出了这部新的6集探险迷你剧《迷骨》（Bonekickers）。该剧讲述由 Gillian Magwilde教授 (Julie Graham) 领导的专家考古队探索古迹、追寻历史的故事。考古队的成员还包括： Ben Ergha博士 (Adrian Lester)、Gregory Parton教授 (Hugh Bonneville), Viv Davis (Gugu Mbatha-Raw) 和 Daniel Mastiff教授 (Michael Maloney)。

考古队发掘14世纪士兵的遗骸时，发现了 “真十字架” 的线索。经过研究，Gillian等人证实，这些士兵就是传说中的圣殿武士（Knights Templar）。随这些士兵出土的还有一小片雪松木，它来自于《圣经》中提到的 “圣地”（今天的巴勒斯坦），距今已有2000年时间。这片木头是 “真十字架” 上的一部分吗？Gillian需要一些时间来调查。但是，激进的右派宗教分子Edward Laygass却另有想法－－他认为这里就是圣地，他将拥有这片土地。为了实现自己的目标，Laygass召来一群 “现代十字军战士”，考古队随时都会有危险……刻在一尊耶稣苦像背后的神秘符号，也许就是寻找 “真十字架” 的关键线索……

Set against the backdrop of Bath, a city steeped in 3,000 years of history, Gillian and her team – Dr Ben Akomfrah (forensic, objective), Professor Gregory Parton (encyclopaedic but terminally louche) and eager young post-grad intern Viv Davis – are brought in under a variety of imperatives to extract bodies, books, weapons and all manner of artefacts which lead them into an investigation of the past that will unlock dangers and mysteries in the present.
From the excavation of murdered 18th century slaves to the possible discovery of the True Cross, each episode is a window on a period of history but more importantly a reflection on how we live now.
Running through it all is a greater puzzle that Gillian, a fiery Celt, keeps to herself for fear of ridicule – the hunt for the greatest treasure in the history of Man, a hunt that drove her brilliant mother insane, a hunt that pits her wits against her academic nemesis, the arrogant, urbane TV historian Daniel Mastif, and that will culminate at the end of series one in a desperate race for glory which may destroy her in the process.
