　纽约市警察生活
　在纽约市这个犯罪率也相当高的城市里，原本是罪犯的主角“马库斯·里德”，在当上警察后成了相当了解罪犯、帮派心理的狠角色，因此遏止犯罪、扫荡外来帮派与本土帮派、搜捕罪犯、敲诈、审问、以及施行正义，都可照玩家自己喜爱的模式来做，无论是想照规矩来，或是放纵自己做点不一样的，都没有问题。
　动态的环境
　《True Crime: New York City》里所出现的纽约市，都与真实世界完全相同，几个着名的地标建筑物都会陆续出现，玩家有闲情逸致时可以在街道上自由漫步，欣赏一下这些街景；另外，这些场景中的大多道具、物品都是可以移动使用的，包括烤箱、电炉、各种机器、冰箱、茶壶、平底锅、桌椅等，都能成为玩家手中攻击、运用的道具。而在美个街道路口上，所有的行人、建筑物都会根据玩家“执法”途中所做的动作，而出现不一样的回应。
　街头的疯狂追逐
　为了让玩家在《True Crime: New York City》中可以更快速地捕捉罪犯，游戏里设计了许多不同的交通工具可让主角搭乘，包括摩托车、跑车、卡车，甚至连公车都可以征召来开，在各个街道上进行疯狂刺激的追逐战。
　多变的战斗风格
　在不同的关卡里，玩家都可以取得不一样的武器，像是警棍、刀剑，以及其他威力强大的道具等，甚至还能从黑市获得火焰发射器、枪榴弹发射器等威力强大的武器；另外，玩家也能随意变换不同的格斗风格，像是从街头乱斗到利用各种武术，都会是主角打击敌人的重要部分。
