之前说的都是Alan的嗓音非常棒，非常适合演绎Country Music，其实他的歌词也写得很出色，一点也不逊色于他的旋律和他的声音。Alan出道很晚，1990年，他已经32岁时才发了他的第一张个人专辑《Here in the Real World》。之前他做过汽车销售员、建筑工人和铲车司机这样的工作，生活是比较艰辛的。这段经历让他的歌词中更增添了一份深刻。认真品味Alan的歌词，我们会发现很多让我们感动的东西，因为他是将自己的生活和自己的感情注入他的歌曲中。
这张专辑中的许多歌旋律依然很美，比如Too Much Of A Good Thing，There Ya Go，Strong Enough……但是To Do What I Do，这首歌是我最想推荐的一首。这首歌其实是一首很励志的曲子，歌词写的几乎就是他自己在音乐道路上的奋斗过程。他经历了很多艰辛，但是仍然坚持自己对音乐的信仰，To do what I do，最终获得了成功。（下附歌词）
